Wedding Of Sidone & James at The Great Hallingbury Manor Hotel, Bishops Stortford, Herts.

We met Sidone, James and little Bella, back in May 2016 at a wedding show at The Great Hallingbury Manor Hotel, the venue they had chosen to book for their special day and one that we know very well.
Over the 18 months or so we held our usual pre-wedding planning meetings, one of which was at the venue. On that occasion, we were joined by Lisa, the venue’s Wedding Coordinator and Mark, the Toastmaster.  They are a great team to work with and it is always a pleasure to work with venues who share the same values and offer a great service to their clients.
At that meeting was also the latest addition to the family, baby Freddie had arrived and would be only eight months by the day of the wedding.
With so much time to plan their wedding,  Sidone and James could choose and book the suppliers they wanted. However, one thing totally out of their control was the British weather! Thankfully, it is something that, as professional photographers, we always plan for.
Arriving early on the day we began with the bridal prep and groom prep photographs.
Sidone had been clear during our planning meetings that she did not want photographs taken of her before her makeup and hair had been completed. So we took advantage of the time to capture some lovely images of her accessories and managed to accommodate James’ groom prep images too.

A wedding day is a day of celebration, where family and friends join together to celebrate the love two people share for each other. However, life does not always work to plan and for some, it can also be a very difficult day, when sadly, some of those special people can no longer be there to share in the celebrations. And this is was the case for James and Sidone.
They were determined however to ensure that James’ father, who sadly passed away a few years earlier, would still play a part in their special day. From the lapel pins featuring his face, given to the groom and best man, to the pictures of him, that graced the memorial table and right the way through to the speeches later that evening.
By the end of the day, there was not one dry-eyed person left.

The weather was definitely feeling the emotions too as it rained heavily throughout the day and evening. But Sidone, James, their family and friends did not let this stop them from having an amazing time. And, as always the staff at the venue, along with Toastmaster, Mark, all made sure that everything went to plan.

London Wedding Photographer. North London Wedding Of Helen & Scott. St Anne’s Church, Highgate and The Grand Palace, N.22

No matter how many years we have been photographing weddings, we still get that special feeling every time we are photographing one. And it was definitely no exception for the Wedding of Helen & Scott.

We first met the couple early 2016. During that first meeting we developed an instant connection. They explained how they had been together for many years and had three lovely children, Lucy, Chloe & Charlie, yet they had only now decided to get married.

Sadly, Scotts father had recently been diagnosed with cancer and was quite unwell so Helen and Scott explained that some plans would have to remain flexible and of course we were more than happy to accommodate this.

This wedding was to be a fusion of Greek Cypriot and English cultures, with a traditional Church of England ceremony at St Anne’s Church in Highgate, N6 and followed by a more traditional Greek style reception at the beautiful Grand Palace Banqueting Suite, N22.

Having now known the couple for over a year it is fair to say that both Helen and Scott are some of the most funniest, kind hearted and genuine people we have worked with.

So on the 24th June, we started the day welcomed with open arms at Helen’s parent’s house, joined by great videographers Tony Vouniotis from Top Class Vision and his assistant Mario. Both were a pleasure to work with and highly recommended.Whilst here we captured the bridal preparations and the traditional Greek Orthodox blessing with incense.

We then walked across the road to groom Scott’s parent’s home to capture images there with his parents too.

Once done here we were off again to find Father Andrew at St Anne’s Church. After the ceremony a Traditional Red Bus arrived to take guest on to the reception whilst we remained to capture some images of the new Mr & Mrs Gentle!

We then off to meet all the guests at the wonderful Grand Palace Banqueting Suite where we were all spoilt with wonderful food and a brilliant service. It was without a doubt a fantastic day and one that everyone seemed to enjoy throughly.

We have to say a huge thank you to Helen and Scott for entrusting us with photographing their special day. To all their family and friends for welcoming us and making us and being so great to work with. To videographers Tony and Mario for being so brilliant to work with. To all the staff at Grand Palace Banqueting Suite for taking such good care of us. And finally to our assistant, Christine who worked so hard on the day.

We would like to wish Helen & Scott a lifetime of joy and happiness.

Hertfordshire Wedding Photographer- Carla & Richard’s Intimate Bishops Stortford Wedding.

Have you ever spoken to someone over the phone and just felt that instant connection? Well exactly that happened earlier this year.

We received a call from Richard asking if we had availability on 13th February to photograph a small, intimate wedding ceremony at the Bishops Stortford registry office. This was less than a month away.

Richard explained that whilst they live in Buckinghamshire, they had decided to have the ceremony in Bishops Stortford, as he really wanted his grandmother to be there and making her travel to the couples home town would be too stressful for her.

Speaking to Richard gave us a chance to really understand the dynamics for his family and that of his Portuguese wife to be, Carla. We seemed to click immediately and at the first planning meeting Carla confirmed that too.

She explained how she had been in the room when Richard had called. When the call ended she had turned to him and said “you really got on with that photographer, didn’t you?”.

They both explained how they found us to be approachable and flexible and in turn this made them feel relaxed and confident.

So the day soon arrived and as expected, it was very lovely indeed. Their love for one another seemed to fill the room and the laughter was definitely there too, as the nerves got the better of Carla and for a split moment she struggled to remember her own name!

After the kiss, the confetti shot and a quite trip to the park for some family photos, we headed off to The Lemon Tree restaurant close by in Bishops Stortford, for the reception. Here the love and joy continued and it was so lovely to see the two cultures coming together.

It was such an honour to be part of their day and we wish them a future filled with joy and happiness.

London Photographer. The Savoy Hotel, London, United Kingdom.

Over the years we have been very fortunate to have either photographed, or have been a guest at many of London’s fantastic hotels and the Savoy has to be one of the finest.

So, having been booked to photograph a function at the Savoy Grill at the end of January this year, we decided to pop over and familiarise ourselves with the hotel and meet the staff.

The stunning entrance draws you in, promising to blow you away with what is to follow. And from the moment you enter the beautifully crafted front hall, the grandeur leaves you breathless. Every little detail carefully attended to, creating a visual masterpiece.

We decided to find out more about this iconic London landmark and discovered that the Savoy has an interesting history.

In 1246 Count Peter of Savoy built The Savoy Palace, which went on to become the home of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster.  Sadly, in 1381, it was burnt to the ground during the Peasant’s Revolt. The estate then became part of the Duchy of Lancaster, and remains so to the present day.

In 1881 The Savoy Theatre was opened. This was due to the collaboration between theatrical impresario Richard D’Oyly Carte, lyricist William Schwenk Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan. It was a collaboration to last for over twenty years and see the creation of a total of thirteen classic operas. Every one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s subsequent operas were premiered in the Savoy Theatre, and the entire canon became known as the Savoy Operas.

Richard D’Oyly Carte then went on to build the Savoy, which was opened on 6th August 1889. The new Savoy hotel offered accommodation for the many tourists, especially Americans, who had travelled to London to see the Savoy Operas.

With restaurants, bars, lounges, private dining rooms and banqueting suites, the Savoy offered a variety of choices for Londoners wanting to enjoy themselves. The main restaurant was opened by noted hotelier Cesar Ritz, who later became general manager.

Over the years to follow, the Savoy underwent many changes, and in 2005 it was purchased by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin AbdulAziz Alsaud, who handed the management contract to Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.

Then, on 15th December 2007, and for the first time in 118years, the Savoy closed its doors to the public. The planned refurbishment was expected to cost around £100 million pounds and take up to 15 months to complete.

However, it was not until some three years later, on 10th October 2010, that the Savoy was formally reopened, with the final restorations costing approximately £220 million pounds.

In 2014 the Savoy celebrated it’s 125th Year anniversary.

Wedding Of Stephen & Jane. Down Hall Country House Hotel, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.

It was during a charity Coffee Morning event that I remember helping a lady with her buggy. We started talking and she noticed the display of my work and commented on how she loved my images. She mentioned she had a friend who was getting married very soon and thought they would be interested in looking at my work, so I gave her a business card and suggested she ask the couple to visit my website.

However, she had other plans, and picked up her mobile, calling her friend to explain the situation. The next think I knew I was talking to a lady and arranging an appointment for her and her partner to visit the studio.

It was lovely to meet Jane, Stephen and little Lewis on that first visit. Their wedding was due to take place in less than eight weeks time, not far from our studio, at the magnificent Down Hall Country House Hotel, in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.

As we always do, a personalised package was created especially for Jane & Stephen. However, on this occasion we needed to include a special guest appearance. Jane explained that she had booked someone very special to appear in the evening and the couple would want some images taken together with the start before he made his entrance – but it had to remain a surprise.

On the day, the hotel was decorated ready for Christmas and set such a beautiful scene. Everyones seemed to have a brilliant time and the guest appearance definitely took them all by surprise.

If you are plaining a wedding at Down Hall Country House Hotel or any other venue, and would like to discuss your requirements with us please do not hesitate to get in touch.
