Specialist Pet Photographer, Detheo Photography Is Making New Developments In Their Equine Photography

As the week draws to a close we are preparing to head off to fulfil an amazing, lifelong dream to meet and train with Monty Roberts, The Horse Whisperer.
Since a young child, Monty’s methods of connecting with the horses he works with had always fascinated me. I loved all animals and was fortunate to have an uncle who had a farm. I recall spending many weekends there, where he had various animals and in particular his gorgeous Arabian horses. I would spend hours standing by the side of the field watching them and interacting with them.
So gaining a natural confidence around horses came easily, but I never lost my respect for them as animals. Their world was different to mine. And however much I watched them, I knew I had a lot to learn when it came to understanding their body language, the way they would communicate with each other and the rules of the herd.
Since starting Detheo Photography, many years ago, I have been very fortunate to photograph many animals including horses.
Detheo Photography has always focused on capturing the individual character of each animal and over the years we have gained a strong reputation for the way we work. Currently, however, we are more commonly recognised for our work with dogs. Often these dogs have some level of challenging behaviour. Many are anxious/nervous, others have significant medical needs. But regardless of what the complexities are, they all require someone who can understand them and work accordingly.
It is through the ability to connect with them that we have been so successful. Unlike traditional training methods, we have no desire to teach them anything. What we do is to connect in a more natural, innate way. By learning to understand the way they think and how they behave, we can start to build the trust between us. In turn, we can work in a way that is more respectful to them.
Now, in 2018 we have decided to move forward and develop this way of working within our Equine Photography. So, who better to helps us get started than Monty Roberts.
It is an exciting new chapter and one that we hope you will share with us. We have so many plans in the pipeline and will aim to keep everyone updated via our Facebook Page so please make sure to Like the page and join us on this new adventure.
